Factors Affecting Motor Insurance Premium

Most of us do pay for our car insurance. But, why some car has higher premium whereas some car is cheaper? Lets look at the factor contributing to the calculation of premium.

The Factors Affecting Motor Insurance Premium are:

Type of coverage: Comprehensive, Third Party Fire and Theft or Third Party

Third party: This type of policy covers death of, or injury to, other parties and damage to other people’s property. Under the law, the minimum requirement is that the policy provides cover for causing death of, or personal injury to, other parties.

Third Party Fire and Theft: On top of third party coverage, this type of policy further allows you to make a claim should your vehicle be stolen or damaged by fire.

Comprehensive:  Provides cover for personal accident and accidental damage to your vehicle and  against fire and theft, as well as third party death, injuries and property damage. Everything else being equal, this type of policy would thus cost more than other types of policies. You may add on optional benefits, such as coverage on additional accessories such as windscreen by paying a higher premium.

Sum Insured: Based on market value

Engine Capacity (CC): The larger the Engine capacity, the higher the premium

Loading: Such as vehicle age loading, driver age loading etc

No Claim Discount: The discount given for not claiming insurance due to accident. From 0% to 25, 30, 38.33, 45 and the max will be 55%.

Other benefits such as legal liability, named driver, car accessorize cover etc.  The more benefits, the more you need to pay

And at last, you will need to pay RM 10 for the stamp duty.

Money – and more

SOME avid collectors of ringgit notes with print defects would probably be interested in owning a RM50 note which was withdrawn from an ATM at the Penang International Airport.
The legal tender was found stuck among 20 pieces of RM50 notes which was withdrawn by remisier Norhazi Ismail, 45, at about noon yesterday.
Bearing the serial number, ‘PP1981485’ on the back, the note had an extra flap on the front left top corner.
“This banknote is legal as it came straight from Maybank. Also the paper quality, serial number, photo of the Agung and watermark are all intact,” he said.
Norhazi, a former bank worker, said this was the second time he had found such a note.
“In 1984, when I was working in the then Southern Bank in Bayan Lepas, I received the old RM100 note which had two faces of the King on it.
Norhazi said he would keep both the ringgit notes as he felt they might be collector’s items one day.

MBF Cards offers RM50 tax waiver for balance transfer

PETALING JAYA: MBF card holders stand to receive immediate interest savings upon approval of their balance transfer with a waiver of the RM50 Government Service Tax under MBF Cards’ Power Balance Transfer programme, subject to terms and conditions.
The offer promotes savings and long-term benefits for principal credit card holders who transfer their credit balance to an MBF card, MBF Cards (M) Sdn Bhd said in a statement.
The offer is valid until end February next year.
Under the offer, card members can now transfer their outstanding balance from other credit cards to MBF Cards and enjoy 0% interest for 12 months by maintaining the approved balance transfer amount for a full year.
But MBF card holders can only enjoy the benefits of the revolving credit amount, capped at RM7,500, with a minimum monthly transaction of RM300.
In addition, “if the approved balance transfer amount is more than RM7,500, MBF Cards’ prevailing interest rate will apply to the amount in excess of RM7,500,” the company said.
Meanwhile, Maybank is also providing its cardholders an option with regard to the RM50 card service tax.
Maybank said its cardholders had been informed via letters as well as on the bank’s website that cardholders could redeem their reward points to pay for the credit card service tax.
